Trimming keeps the part of a recording you want and drops the rest. Typical uses: shortening a voice memo, cutting a thirty-second ringtone from a song, removing silence at the start of a podcast take, or pulling one answer out of an interview.
How do I enter times?
Enter the start and the length in seconds. Decimals work, so 42.5 starts halfway through second 42. To start at 1 minute 15, enter 75. A start of 75 and a length of 20 keeps 1:15 to 1:35. The default length is 30 seconds, which is also the usual maximum for a phone ringtone.
How precise is the cut?
Precise to a fraction of a second. The section is decoded and saved again, so the cut lands where you asked rather than jumping to the nearest block of compressed audio.
Because the edges are not faded, a cut in the middle of a loud passage can start or end with a small click. Choose cut points in a quiet moment if you can.
Does trimming reduce quality?
WAV and FLAC files stay lossless. For MP3, AAC, M4A, OGG and Opus, the clip is encoded again with high-quality settings: MP3 with LAME at variable bitrate quality 2 (typically 170 to 210 kbps), AAC and M4A at 192 kbps, Opus at 128 kbps. That is a second lossy encode, but at these settings it is not audible in normal listening. If you plan several edits, convert to WAV first and trim that.
Which formats work?
MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, OGG, WMA and Opus. The trimmed file keeps the format of the original.
Is it private?
Trimming runs on our server. The file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed in Germany and deleted automatically within two hours.
What are the limits?
Files up to 50 MB are free without an account, within a daily allowance of 20 server jobs; Pro takes 500 MB and removes the cap. If every episode in a folder starts with the same ten seconds of countdown, the pipeline builder can trim them all in one run. You can try a pipeline on up to 3 files for free.

Can I cut several sections at once?
One section per run. Trim each part separately, then join them with Merge Audio.
Can I add a fade in or fade out?
Not with this tool. The cut is straight, without a fade.
How do I make an iPhone ringtone?
Trim to 30 seconds or less, convert the clip to M4A with Convert Audio, then rename it with the .m4r extension.
Can I trim the audio of a video?
Trim Video cuts both picture and sound. To keep only the sound, extract it first with Extract Audio.
