Four simple effects cover most everyday needs: grayscale for print or a consistent look, sepia for an aged tone, invert for negatives and dark-mode tricks, and blur for backgrounds or hiding detail.
What does each effect do?
Grayscale removes colour and keeps brightness, weighting red, green and blue the way the eye perceives them, so the result looks natural rather than flat. Useful for documents that will be printed in black and white, and for giving a set of photos a uniform look.
Sepia converts to grayscale and then tints the image a warm brown, the look of old photographs.
Invert flips every colour to its opposite: black becomes white, blue becomes orange. It turns a scanned film negative into a positive and can make a dark diagram readable on paper.
Blur softens the whole image. You set the radius from 1 to 100, default 5. A light blur works as a background behind text; a strong blur makes faces or text unreadable. For hiding sensitive information, blur is not always enough, since a light blur can sometimes be reversed. Cover the area with a solid box in an editor when it matters.
Does it reduce quality?
The effect changes the pixels on purpose, but the image keeps its dimensions. PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP are saved at a high quality setting.

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and TIFF. Output keeps the input format and any transparency.
Does the file leave my computer?

FAQ
Does grayscale make the file smaller?
Slightly, in most cases, because there is less colour information to store.
Can I combine effects?
Yes. Apply one, then run the result through again with the next, for example grayscale followed by a light blur.
Is the blur strong enough to hide a licence plate?
A strong blur hides it visually, but a solid box is the safer choice for anything sensitive.
Can I undo an effect?
Your original file is not changed. Keep it if you might want the colour version back.
