Converting a PDF to JPG draws each page as a picture, the same way your screen shows it, and saves one image per page. That is what you need to post a page on social media, drop a slide into a chat, or insert a page into something that only accepts images.
Which resolution should I choose?
Resolution is set in DPI, dots per inch of the printed page. The default of 150 DPI turns an A4 page into an image about 1240 by 1750 pixels, which is sharp on any screen and small enough to share. 300 DPI doubles both dimensions, for printing or for zooming into small text; the files get about four times larger. Lower values, down to 36 DPI, are useful for thumbnails and previews.
How good does the JPG look?
JPG quality is set from 10 to 100 and defaults to 85, which looks clean for scanned pages and photos. Text on a white background can show faint smudges around the letters at low quality settings, because JPG is designed for photos. If your pages are mostly text, line drawings or charts, use PDF to PNG instead: it is lossless and keeps every edge crisp.
Either way, the page becomes pixels. Text in the image is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need the words, use PDF to Text or PDF to Word.
Is it private?
On this page the pages are rendered by your browser with pdf.js, the engine Firefox uses to display PDFs. The PDF is not uploaded, so the file never leaves your device.
What comes back?
A ZIP with one JPG per page, numbered in page order. Long documents take a little longer, since every page is drawn in turn, and a phone is slower at it than a laptop.
What are the limits?
