Convert PDF to Word

A PDF records where every character sits on the page, not which words form a paragraph or which cells make a table. Converting to Word means rebuilding that structure. This tool uses pdf2docx, which reads the layout of each page and recreates paragraphs, tables and images as editable Word content.

How close will the Word file be to the PDF?

For documents that were made in a word processor and exported to PDF, such as letters, reports and contracts, the result is usually close: paragraphs flow, headings keep their size, and simple tables come back as real tables. Complex layouts with many text boxes, multiple columns or text over images may shift, and some fonts are replaced by similar ones installed on your computer. Plan to check the document and fix a few spots.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Not on its own. A scanned page is a photo of text, so the converter finds an image, not words, and the Word file will contain that image. Run the scan through the OCR tool first to get the words out. You can tell a scanned PDF because you cannot select the text in your reader.

Is my file stored?

The conversion runs on our server. Your PDF is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed in Germany, and both the PDF and the Word file are deleted automatically within two hours.

Is it free?

Yes. Single PDFs up to 50 MB are free without an account, within the free daily allowance of 20 jobs. Pro raises the file size to 500 MB and removes the daily cap. Long documents take longer, since every page is analysed. You can drop several PDFs at once; up to 5 per batch are free without an account, and Pro handles batches of up to 500.
