Merge PDF files

Merging takes the pages of several PDFs and writes them, in the order you set, into a single new PDF. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.

Does the file leave my computer?

Yes. On this page the merge runs in your browser with the pdf-lib library. Your PDFs are read from your disk into memory, combined there, and saved back to your downloads. They are never uploaded, so the files never leave your device. That makes the tool safe for contracts, payslips and anything else you would rather not send to a stranger's server.

Does quality drop?

No. Merging copies pages as they are. Fonts, vector graphics and embedded images are carried over untouched, and the combined file is roughly the sum of the originals. If the result is too large to email, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

A few things do not always survive a merge: bookmarks (the outline panel in your reader), fillable form fields and digital signatures. A signed PDF stays readable, but the signature no longer validates once its pages sit inside a new file.

What are the limits?

There is no page limit and no daily cap. The free plan accepts files up to 50 MB each; Pro raises that to 500 MB. Because the work happens on your own machine, very large merges depend on your device's memory, so a phone will slow down sooner than a laptop.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Only after unlocking them. An encrypted PDF cannot be read without its password, so open it with Unlock PDF first, then merge.

How to merge PDF files

1. Drop your PDFs onto the drop zone, or click it to pick them from a folder.
2. Drag the file cards into the order you want the pages to appear.
3. Click Merge.
4. Download the combined PDF.
